COUNSELLING SERVICE...

The therapeutic counselling service I offer provides you with an opportunity to reflect on your life in a way that increases your awareness of those unreflected, unconscious parts of yourself responsible for the emotional discomfort and conflict often associated with anxiety, stress, depression, anger, bereavement and loss, relationship problems, sexual abuse, addiction, etc.

MY COUNSELLING PORTFOLIO...

I began my formal counselling training at Inverness College in 1998, gaining my Counselling Certificate from Strathclyde University in 2000, and then my Diploma in Person Centred Counselling from Persona Training and Development in 2003.

My personal philosophy teaches me that I can respect and accept the experience of my client without need to form judgement or apportion blame and in the absence of any need to have my client BE something they are not.

I have worked as a counsellor in Highland for organisations such as Grampian Racial Equality Council, the sexual health charity Reach Out Highland, and Alcohol Counselling Inverness. Today, I provide a counselling service in Inverness through private practice.

I have extensive experience of group facilitation, having worked for many years with the transgender community in Highland and, more recently, providing group facilitation for the Edinburgh-based national charity Depression Alliance Scotland.

COUNSELLING SESSIONS...

I offer an initial consultation free of charge. This is an opportunity for you to meet with me to assess our fit, answer any questions you may have, or help you with a referral that best serves your needs.

I do not make notes of any kind from meetings with counselling clients.

I understand how important confidentiality can be to someone reaching out for help and therefore honour the trust placed in me at such times, in such circumstances.

As a counsellor in private practice, I personally choose not to be professionally affiliated to the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, while wholeheartedly embracing the Values and Standards set by that regulatory body.

COST...

A one-hour consultation costs £25.

I am pleased to offer reduced fee sessions subject to my workload and where financial considerations may cause hardship. Please ask for further information.

Therapeutic Counselling “Letting go of our suffering is the hardest work we will ever do. It is also the most fruitful. To heal means to meet ourselves in a new way - in the newest of each moment where all is possible and nothing is limited to the old.” - Stephen Levine
